Doctor Doom Actor Julian McMahon Passes Away Aged 56
Julian McMahon, best known for his appearance as Marvel villain Doctor Doom, passed away aged 56 after a battle with cancer.
In a statement to Deadline, McMahon’s wife, Kelly McMahon, said ““With an open heart, I wish to share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer.
“Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible. We ask for support during this time to allow our family to grieve in privacy. And we wish for all of those to whom Julian brought joy, to continue to find joy in life. We are grateful for the memories.”
Born on July 27, 1968, McMahon started his career as a module, before moving to acting. His first role was the lead in the 1989 Australian soap, ‘The Power’.
The first movie McMahon would appear in was the 1992 film ‘Wet and Wild Summer!’ and later joined the supernatural drama “Charmed’ as the demonic Cole Turner.
McMahon joined Dylan Wash to headline the Ryan Murphy plastic surgery drama ‘Nip/Tuck’, which earned him a Golden Globe nomination for playing the role of Dr. Christian Troy.
Walsh told Deadline “We rode this wave together and I loved him. My heart goes out to Kelly and Maddy. Jules! I know you’d want me to say something to make you smile — all the inside jokes. All those years you had my back, and my god, we laughed. My heart is with you. Rest in peace.”
Science fiction fans will recognise McMahon as Doctor Victor Von Doom in the 2005 ‘Fantastic Four’ movie and its 2007 sequel, ‘Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer’, and a recurring role in ‘Marvel’s Runaways’.
McMahon married three times – the first to Australian singer-actress Dannii Minogue, sister of Kylie Minogue, actor Brooke Burns, with whom he has a daughter and Paniagua, in 2014.
