Disney Shifts Gears: Next Two Avengers Films Pushed Back

Marvel Cinematic Universe fans will need to adjust their calendars, as Disney has announced
significant delays for the next two highly anticipated Avengers films. Avengers: Doomsday and
Avengers: Secret Wars, both poised to conclude the Multiverse Saga, have been pushed back
by several months, extending the wait for these colossal superhero epics.

Originally slated for May 1, 2026, Avengers: Doomsday will now premiere on December 18, 2026.

Its direct sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, which was initially set for May 7, 2027, has also
been moved to December 17, 2027. While Disney hasn’t provided a specific reason for the
delay, industry insiders suggest it’s to allow filmmakers more time to fully realize the
“Gargantuan vision” for these two films, which are anticipated to be among Marvel’s biggest
productions to date.

The move to December release slots also reflects Disney’s confidence in the holiday corridor, a
period that has seen immense success for previous Marvel blockbusters like Spider-Man: No
Way Home. With both films directed by the acclaimed Russo Brothers, who previously helmed
Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, the extended timeline aims to ensure an
impactful conclusion to the current overarching narrative.
