David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan cast as Superman and Lois Lane in Superman: Legacy

David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan have been cast as Clark Kent and Lois Lane for James Gunn’s and Peter Safran’s DC universe, meaning audiences now have their Superman.

The pair will star in the James Gunn written and directed Superman: Legacy, the first film in the rebooted DC franchise.

They will then go on to appear in other DC films, though it’s unclear what they will be.

David Corenswet is best known for appearing in the 2022 film Pearl, and the 2022 miniseries We Own This City.

Rachel Brosnahan has starred in the TV show The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and has appeared in the Netflix series House of Cards.

Superman: Legacy will arrive in cinemas on July 11, 2025, and won’t be an origin story for the character.

Other plot details are scarce, though it seems as though Lex Luthor will be the villain in the film, as Gunn is searching for actors to play him.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, those who are shortlisted for the role of Lex Luthor include Alexander Skarsgård, Bill Skarsgård, and Nicholas Hoult.

Corenswet and Brosnahan are not the only people to have been cast in the new DCU. The voices of the animated Creature Commandos show were announced a few months ago.

The voices are Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., David Harbour as Eric Frankenstein, Indira Varma as The Bride, Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana Rostovic, Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, and Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorus. Sean Gunn will voice both Weasel and G.I. Robot, and Steve Agee will reprise his role as John Economos.

A character that’s confirmed to return in future DCU projects is Xolo Maridueña’s Jaime Reyes, aka Blue Beetle.

“I mean the first DCU character, for sure, is Blue Beetle, and the first full DCU movie is Superman,” Gunn said on Michael Rosenbaum’s podcast.

Other characters in the new DCU have yet to be cast, such as Batman, but we’ll keep you updated when they are.
