Crunchyroll Will Be Bringing This Anime to Theaters in North America
Throughout the past couple of years, it’s been more common to bring anime to
theaters rather than a separate release on streaming services. Another one is on the horizon for
April as a limited event, Sony Entertainment handling distribution. Kaiju No. 8 is the next film to
be released this spring in North America, and there will be a Japanese version with English
subtitles, or available as an English-dub.
Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon will be a compilation of season one, introducing the
character Kafka Hibino, who gains the power to fight monsters and joins the Defense Force in
order to protect humanity after ingesting an unusual parasite that gives him the ability to
transform into a kaiju, or strange beast. The complication is keeping his identity to himself all
while trying to fight alongside his childhood friend Mina.
Fans can expect this to hit theaters on April 13th, 14th, and 16th of this year, and will
also be followed by a brand-new additional episode known as Hoshina’s Day Off. Dates for
international release will reportedly soon be announced.
