CD Projekt RED and Anonymous Content to develop Cyberpunk 2077 live-action project
A live-action project set in the universe of ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ will be developed by CD Projekt RED and Anonymous Content.
The project is in the early stages of development and is looking for a screenwriter CD Projekt Red announced.
It’s not clear if this will be a movie or TV show.
The ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ creative team and Garrett Kemble, Anonymous Content Studios’ head of television, will collaborate to make the project.
Ryan Schwartz and David Levine will serve on the show.
Levine previously served as executive VP for HBO and the co-head of drama for more than a decade, where he helped produce True Detective, Westworld, and True Blood.
Kemble, Levine, Schwartz, Charlie Scully, and Bard Dorros will be producers for Anonymous Content.
‘Cyberpunk 2077’ is an open-world adventure game released in 2020.
The game takes place in Night City, a megalopolis driven by power, glamour, and cyber augmentation.
Players control a mercenary outlaw called V as they search for a rare implant that’s the key to immortality.
Keanu Reeves features as Johny Silverhand, who accompanies V on their journey.
CD Projekt RED recently updated the game, adding the spy-thriller DLC ‘Phantom Liberty.’
It adds Hollywood star Idris Elba playing sleeper agent Solomon Reed.
The developers, known for their work on ‘The Witcher’ series of games, have already dabbled in Hollywood.
In 2022, the company teamed up with Netflix and delivered an original anime adaptation ‘Cyberpunk: Edgerunners,’ which acts as a prequel to ‘Cyberpunk 2077.’
‘Edgerunners’ was co-created by Mike Pondsmith, the creator of the ‘Cyberpunk’ universe, and series showrunner and executive producer Rafal Jaki.
‘Cyberpunk’ has also had a book called’ Cyberpunk 2077: No_Coincidence,’ written by Rafal Kosik, and the board game Gangs of Night City set in its world.
