Captain America: Brave New World Official Trailer Reaction
Audiences have got another look at ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ with an official trailer showcasing the best look at Red Hulk yet, Sam Wilson’s new suit, and more. The trailer keeps diving into it’s defined political thriller tone, something that has worked wonders for the previous ‘Captain America’ films. It also teases the cinematic nature of the film, with the trailer teasing many epic moments.
Kicking off, audiences get a short few moments with Sam Wilson and Isaiah Bradley, the unfortunate receipient of Super Soldier Serum. It’s after he’s been caught trying to assassinate the President of the USA, Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross, likely in a moment that kicks of this saga. Audiences will be thankful to know that after all Isaiah has been through this seems like brain washing, likely by The Leader, one of the film’s antagonists. There’s even a hint of this being the case.
It’s later revealed that there were five shooters, likely to pick up if Isaiah were to fail in his mission. The Leader might be colluding with Sidewinder, to kill the President, or to push the President into taking radical steps, which is hinted at in the next scene. Ross laments that he now has to be a wartime President, though who the USA is at war with is unknown at this point. It involves the 5th fleet, who operate in the Red Sea, Persian Gulf, Arabian Sea, and parts of the Indian Ocean. As previously mentioned, Tiamut is in the Indian Ocean, which is likely what the fleet were sent to secure.
There are some other shots that audiences have previously seen before, with the line of Ross’ inner circle being compromised. The exchange continues, with things getting tense with Wilson and Ross. This tension is key to highlight early on, as not only does it make sense with Ross and Rogers previously not getting along, but Wilson will need to fight Ross as the Red Hulk.
In the air, audiences get a quick look at Wilson’s new suit, as he’s fully encased in white. There’s another shot as he lands, before his helmet retracts. It’s a tad goofy looking, almost as though Wilson is also mixing in parts of Iron Man, but it does make for an easy suit variation, and one that’s mostly cool. It does explain why Wilson can fly extremely high and faster than the speed of sound without having his ears ripped from his head and dying from a lack of oxygen.
In a set piece, men are blown away from something above, likely Joaquin Torres joining Captain America as the new Falcon. Audiences see the pair together again on the deck of a U.S. ship, jets whipping past. Sam worryingly states that Earth is on the brink of war, which makes sense as a a very serious threat for Captain America to have to fix. Some quick action shots go by, with missiles slamming into ships, and the divide between Wilson and Ross being made literal. Just like any good political thriller, there’s the line about not being to trust another, and nothing about this situation feeling right. Power moves the shadows.
Another war shot happens, with Wilson bouncing Captain America’s shield off missiles to blow them up, which is instantaneously cool. He then brings the shield up with his wings, forming and armoured battering ram, to take out a plane. That sequence is bound to be stunning in the cinema.
A small moment that audiences see is Ross investigating a lab, which is likely where he gets injected with formula that turns him into the Red Hulk. This is again probably a plan concocted by The Leader and Sidewinder, to destabilise the Presidency, so their preferred nation gets to win the global conflict elsewhere in the world.
Later on, the trailer takes a darker turn, as Wilson claims someone is pulling the strings behind the scenes. Whoever this person or group is, they get Wilson arrested, or it might even be Ross himself. He does chastise Wilson’s actions, calling him a variable that he can’t control. Sidewinder manages to catch Wilson off guard, which evens the fight between the two. More espionage plays out with Sabra, as she catches a mysterious guy executing someone.
Over this is dialogue, from an unknown person, saying to Wilson “You like to play dress up and blindly execute the state’s orders,” referring to his actions as Captain America. It’s unclear who this person is, but it adds to the mystery and intrigue that the film is going for. Wilson is again told by this figure that he doesn’t even know what’s happening, implying that the desire to create an unstable world isn’t enough for them.
Towards the end of the trailer, audiences get the best look at Ross transforming into the Red Hulk, as he steps out of the smoke and into frame. He looks amazing, as clearly can’t contain his anger, as he creates a huge amount of destruction before Wilson comes for him. Red Hulk throws a car at Wilson, which he impressively slices in half with his wings and amazing acrobatics. This will be one cool fight to see on the big screen.
Captain America: Brave New World will be released into cinemas worldwide on February 14, 2025.
