Best Upcoming DCEU Movies and Shows
Like the MCU, the DC Extended Universe has had its share of ups and downs, with a few hits, but plenty of misfires that left fans divided because of inconsistency and many behind-the-scenes shakeups. But with James Gunn now the charge of DC, and a lineup of fresh projects, DC is hoping for a fresh start. Here are few upcoming DC movies and shows that are getting fans excited.
Supergirl (2026)
The upcoming Supergirl movie, slated to be released next year, will see Craig Gillespie behind the helm, starring Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, and Jason Momoa as the infamous bounty hunter Lobo. As per Craig, this version of Supergirl will be much intense than what we saw in James Gunn’s Superman.
Lanterns (2026)
Lanterns is an eight-episode HBO/Max series slated to grace our screens in early 2026. Directed by James Hawes, it features the three most important Lanterns, including Hal Jordan, played by Kyle Chandler, John Stewart, played by Aaron Pierre, and Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner. The eight-episode series will see them investigating a mysterious murder. The series will also feature Sinestro, one of the most iconic villains in the Green Lantern saga.
Clayface (2026)
Clayface, one of Batman’s more underrated but fascinating villains, is getting his own show. The idea was brought to DC Studios head James Gunn by filmmaker Mike Flanagan. According to Gunn, the project will be a full-on horror story. He described it as “a body horror movie… that just happens to be in the DCU.” Gunn also mentioned they hadn’t planned on doing anything with Clayface, but Flanagan’s pitch made it happen.
The Batman Part II (2027)
After The Batman took the world by storm, fans were eager for more, and their wish is coming true. The Batman Part II is officially in development, with Matt Reeves returning as director and Robert Pattinson back as the Dark Knight. This time, a more seasoned Batman will face a new villain, though it hasn’t been revealed yet. Possibilities include Mr. Freeze, Hush, or even the Joker, who was teased at the end of the first film.
Peacemaker Season 2 (2025)
After the huge success of Season 1, John Cena is returning this August for Peacemaker Season 2. Rumored to take place after the events of James Gunn’s Superman, the new season might bring back the Justice Gang, including Mr. Terrific, bowl-cut Guy Gardner, and Hawkgirl. New cast members like Tim Meadows and Frank Grillo will join returning favorites Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, and more.
