Batman is Getting a New Look, and DC Approves!

Batman is set to receive a major new look in an upcoming series reboot from DC
Comics. The relaunch of the flagship Batman title, which will begin with a new #1 issue this
September, will introduce a fresh take on the Caped Crusader with a new costume, a new
Batmobile, and a reimagined Gotham City.

The new series will be helmed by an admired creative team: writer Matt Fraction and returning
Batman artist Jorge Jiménez. Fans have been thrilled about the collaboration for months, and
now more details are emerging. The new Batsuit will feature a vintage-inspired blue and gray
color scheme, a departure from the all-black look seen in recent years. Jiménez and Fraction
have both said this new design is meant to feel both classic and fresh, blending a retro feel with
modern sensibilities. The new series promises to be “superhero-forward,” celebrating the
character’s long history while also introducing new characters and gadgets.

In addition to the new suit and Batmobile, the reboot will also provide a completely new map of
Gotham City, created by Fraction to make the urban landscape feel more realistic and detailed.
The new title will feature a series of connected but self-contained stories, a format that Fraction
is known for from his critically acclaimed run on Marvel’s Hawkeye. This approach aims to make
the series both accessible to new readers and rewarding for long-time fans. The first issue of
the new Batman series is scheduled for release on September 3, 2025.
