Alien: Earth Creator Hints at New Monsters “Giving Xenomorphs a Run for Their Money”

In anticipation of the new FX series Alien: Earth, showrunner Noah Hawley has been teasing a
fresh wave of terror for the long-running sci-fi franchise. In a recent interview, Hawley, known for
his work on Fargo and Legion, confirmed that while the iconic Xenomorph will be present, the
series will also introduce new creatures designed to re-mystify the horror.

Speaking with ComicBook.com, Hawley addressed the question of whether the Xenomorphs
would remain the scariest monsters in the series. “That depends on what grosses you out the
most,” he said, before adding, “I think we’re giving them a run for their money, certainly.” This
comment signals a deliberate effort to expand the franchise’s bestiary and deliver a new type of
horror that goes beyond the familiar “perfect organism” of the original films.

The decision to introduce new creatures is reportedly a core part of Hawley’s strategy to bring a
sense of the unknown back to the Alien universe, which has been explored extensively over the

past few decades. By setting the series on Earth in the years just before the events of the
original 1979 film, the show has the opportunity to introduce a new “apex predator” into a
balanced ecosystem and explore the fallout in a way the movies never could. Early reviews and
trailers suggest these new organisms, along with a focus on transhumanism and corporate
greed, will provide multiple layers of horror, from creature-based body horror to unsettling moral
dilemmas.
