Ocean World – Eden Crafters Lets Players Create Life On A Barren World
Ocean World: Eden Crafters is a free demo of an upcoming survival game. Eden Crafters is set to release in early access on October 16th. The demo takes place on a series of islands which you’ll get to explore. The planet’s sole threat is a giant tidal wave. For now only solar panels and wind machines are in danger. It’s pretty anticlimactic as is, but this could change.
You’ll be able to explore for hours on this one planet alone. The full game will have a few different planets to terraform. Like in all crafting heavy games, a large amount of time will pass with you simply learning how to keep yourself alive. And collecting resources before your oxygen runs out. Maintaining power efficiency can also become tedious since your power grid is affected by the tidal wave.
Once automation really gets going, this becomes easier. The mechanics are also simple, so building machines is never overwhelming. Even for complete newbies. You can fall into a routine pretty easily. There’s very little threat since you can dismantle any buildings that are in danger, before building them again. There is a co-op mode and this may add some variety to the gameplay.
Ocean World: Eden Crafters has different modes, but there isn’t a big enough change between standard and relaxed gameplay. It’s easy to jump in for a quick session with no pressure. The graphics are interesting enough and the world truly feels desolate for quite some time. That being said, this planet feels like a long tutorial. It doesn’t quite feel satisfying enough to make visiting the others an exciting prospect. You’ll have the best experience with it, if you enjoy games that have a slow pace. Otherwise, it’ll be better to wait and see how Eden Crafters changes throughout its early access development.
