Star Wars Skeleton Crew gets a December Release Date and First Images
Disney’s next live-action ‘Star Wars’ Disney+ show, ‘Skeleton Crew’ has been given a December release date, hinting at the Christmas theme of the show.
Fans can expect the first episode to release on December 3, which lines up with the idea that the show will feature the ‘Star Wars’ equivalent of Christmas, known as Life Day.
Some more information about the show was revealed, like the name of Jude Law’s character, called Jod Na Nawood, a quick-thinking Force-user, who’s role will be to guide several lost kids through the ‘Star Wars galaxy back home.
On X, the official ‘Star Wars’ account posted several pictures of the show, giving audiences a good look at the main cast.
Newcomers to the ‘Star Wars’ franchise include Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy Smith, and Ryan Kiera Armstrong, who play Wim, KB, Neel, and Fern respectively.
Neel is an Ortolan, the same species as Max Rebo, the blue-elephant gangster and musician player in ‘Star Wars: Return of the Jedi’
Nick Frost rounds out the cast as the droid SM-33 – who’s name evokes Smee from ‘Peter Pan’.
In an exclusive People piece on the show, Frost’s droid is described as “a rusty old, cranky droid that sort of reluctantly helps the kids along the way.”
He’s further described as the first mate of a mysterious ship our kid heroes come aboard, furthering the Smee connection.
This ‘Peter Pan’ riff is likely not the only one the show will make, as showrunner Jon Watts and writer Christopher Ford are seeking to evoke a tone similar to that and other child-centric adventures, like ‘The Goonies’ or ‘Stranger Things’.
