Babylon 5: The Road Home trailer reaction

A trailer for the upcoming animated film Babylon 5: The Road Home has been released, teasing audiences what they can expect from the feature. It’s shaping up to be a mind-bending film, with plenty of returning characters.

The trailer starts by establishing where the audience is, and the situation John Sheridan finds himself in. Taking place two years after the Shadow War in which the shadows were defeated, Sheridan is leaving Babylon 5 and his position as President of the Interstellar Alliance for the quiet life. But this is something he won’t get.

At a talk Sheridan is presenting, he unfortunately gets caught up with some tachyons that transport him through multiple timelines and alternate realities. The show uses the multiverse concept, something which audiences are very familiar with.

Sheridan eventually finds himself in a reality where the shadows won the Shadow War, and the insectoids rule the galaxy. The trailer shows that the fight isn’t over yet though, with starfighter fights with the iconic Starfury.

Oh, and the shadows are now destroying planets. Sheridan must make his way home across time and space before it’s too late, even setting Babylon 5 to self-destruct! But to do this, he will need to team up with some familiar faces.

The cast list includes Bruce Boxleitner, Claudia Christian, Peter Jurasik, Bill Mumy, Tracy Scoggins and Patricia Tallman all reprising their roles, and the film is written by Babylon 5 series creator J. Michael Straczynski.

The official synopsis for the show reads: “Travel across the galaxy with John Sheridan as he unexpectedly finds himself transported through multiple timelines and alternate realities in a quest to find his way back home. Along the way he reunites with some familiar faces, while discovering cosmic new revelations about the history, purpose, and meaning of the Universe.”
Babylon 5: The Road Home will be available on Digital, 4K UHD and Blu-ray on August 15, 2023.
